The festival, co-sponsored by the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Danville, is now in its seventeenth year and attracts over 50,000 people every year to beautiful Hartz Avenue in downtown Danville-a city 40 miles east of San Francisco that's a mix of beautiful residences from the Gold Rush days along with magnificent homes of the future. Quaint Hartz Avenue is a natural for unique specialty shops and gourmet dining. During June, the weather is usually very warm, but the tree-lined street offers plenty of shady rest areas.
A key ingredient to the success of the festival is the high quality of art and crafts being displayed by over 200 artisans. This festival has approximately 60% fine art and 40% contemporary and traditional crafts.
The Culinary Arts Corner-another crowd-pleaser-will again be located at the corner of School & Hartz Avenue. This year the public will be treated to demonstrations & samplings of great food presented by Draeger's. Come see what's on the menu.
This year's Italian Street Painters: Alice Crittenden, Cheryl and Wayne Renshaw & Hien Nguyen will create their 12 x 12 ft. masterpieces on Hartz Avenue's asphalt canvas while only using chalk as their medium. Watch this year's artists-in-action beginning early Saturday morning, then come back to see the end result late Sunday afternoon. See festival map for locations & be sure to bring a camera.
Entertainment will be presented by our four street corner musicians throughout the weekend along Hartz Avenue. A wide variety of music to suit your fancy.
To make your visit to the festival an enjoyable one, park your car at the Park & Ride at 680 and Sycamore Valley Road exit and take a leisurely ride to the festival via the FREE shuttle service provided by Diablo Lodge. Shuttle service will run Saturday only from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
